They did not get $100K worth of M249s. They paid about $3,000 each for those. I’d say they got about $50K worth of those s-MGs. They also overpaid on those sniper rifles. A Remington 700 chambered in 30-06 or .308 would do just fine. Even with an M1 Garand, with iron sights, consistent head shots at 200 yards is within the capability of most soldiers. With a Remington 700, hitting a 3 inch circle at 200 yds is a piece of cake.
